SHANGHAI

Shanghai is the most vibrant and modern city in China. We stayed near the Bund, where buildings look as if they belong in 1930s downtown New York rather than China. My mom met up with us in Shanghai, which was a lot of fun. She treated us to some great dinners, and we also saw a Chinese circus.

One great thing about China is the night lights. Not just in Shanghai, but in every city we’ve visited, the Chinese light up everything—some buildings are lit up by advertisements, others by lights that change color or design every few seconds, and whose only purpose is to look nice.

The Chinese circus was amazing. These people were unbelievably coordinated, and would put Cirque de Soleil to shame.
